After the recording was over, he went to look at the new painting by Shantanu, our resident artist, which will frame the backdrop to his desk in the backstage office. Daaji said it reminded him of Kolkata. On the way back Janet requested Daaji for a sitting (Meditation session). He told her to come for the sitting at 10 am the next day.
When Daaji was about to get into the car Henoc from France, introduced to Daaji some new French practitioners from Nice (a City in France) he had brought along with him on a visit to Kanha. Daaji noticed Sujatha from Chennai, who is now settled in the USA. He invited her to sit in the car and drove the car on the Yatra Garden road where he met Nitya and Chavi and invited everyone for a walk in the Yatra garden. After the walk was over they had dinner with Daaji.
A little later after dinner, six Turkish Transcendental Meditation practitioners came to see Daaji.
Daaji explained the transcendence of consciousness in an incredible way that never fails to leave you with that jaw-dropping wonder.
He said to them, “Consciousness is the ability to perceive. It is the degree of perception. Everyone has a different level of perception. Having perceived, there is a different level of understanding. And even after understanding, we have different levels of responses.
Let’s take an example of the war in Gaza. Your perception will depend on who you are. The perception of a Turkish person, a Saudi Arabian person, and an American will all be different. They will understand it differently and then their response will be different. Some will help fight the war, some will try to stop the war, and some will be indifferent. We are struggling with a complex consciousness. And due to all that we have polluted our consciousness. We don't see things as they are. We don't know the reality behind all this. And we can understand and perceive reality appropriately only when our heart is neutral. Similarly, with experiences with God, from religion to religion we perceive God as per the particular ways of our belief. We are creating our Gods in our imagination. So we have to approach Divinity without any prejudices. We should not judge on our community, faith, or conditioning.
We have to clear our consciousness so that it can see things in real life. That is the essence of Sahaj Marg, the Heartfulness way of practice. In this practice, we purify the consciousness gradually, to the extent that we can tolerate our own purity.
Because we cannot tolerate anything such as 100% purity coming into us. If it does you will struggle, you will not recognize yourself. So to the extent that I become purer and simpler, to that extent, I understand my level of consciousness and then, we understand what it is that supports the consciousness.
Let me explain. Children play with toys. For adults, romance is a toy. For meditators play with consciousness is like a toy. It is still a toy. We have to go beyond playing with toys even if it is consciousness and we have to recognize what is it that supports Consciousness”.
Daaji then laughed and said that this was perhaps becoming an overdose of understanding and that it would be best to pause there. He invited them to come back later with more questions if they had any and invited them to meditate with the idea of inviting God, saying, “God, I don't know you and I’d like to feel your presence”. After the meditation, Daaji asked them to join him the next day morning at 10 am for one more meditation session and then went to rest.
