Daaji went to the meditation hall office around 10 am to join the online meeting with the participants from Hindustan Aeronautical Limited management. He gave a talk followed by a meditation session.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is a public-sector aerospace and defense company that is one of the oldest and largest aerospace and defense manufacturers in the world. Heartfulness meditation has been introduced to over 8000 people from their staff. The HAL management would like to enable further training in Heartfulness for their employees who seem to have truly appreciated these sessions so far.
Daaji then gave a brief talk to them. He spoke about his experience as an entrepreneur. He said that when he used to work he noticed that we spend a lot of time at our workplace. So what if we make our work environment as loving and harmonious as at home?
He explained, “At home, parents don't think of competing with their children, do they? They are happy to see them surpass their elders in skills and achievements. So imagine we create an environment at work where if a colleague surpasses our abilities, instead of feeling jealous and threatened we can feel happy that someone with a greater expertise is better than me.
But unfortunately, we jail ourselves with such negative tendencies and destroy ourselves in the process. Negative tendencies produce negative neurotransmitters, which in turn, create negative hormones in our bloodstream. As a result, our physical and mental health suffers. Because of that consequence, our spiritual health also suffers. And what is spiritual health? Spiritual health can be measured just as we measure our temperature. It can be measured by our level of enthusiasm. Do you have the required level of enthusiasm to undertake any task given to you? You may not be familiar with the task but you are so piqued that you are willing to try to do your best.”
Then he explained how ingenious creativity is possible when we are deeply meditative. Tapping into our superconsciousness unleashes our creativity. Daaji gave an example from his pharmacy study days when he had been able to solve a complex problem due to the time he spent in deep meditation.
He said, “Meditation is not just about God-Realisation. It is also about creativity. When we scan through all our life’s decisions especially when we made the wrong ones which made us unhappy. What was behind it? Was your mind agreeing to it? Was your heart agreeing to it? Your mind may have agreed due to greed or some sort of logic. But if your heart says don’t do it and you overrule your heart and still do it, then the consequences are always bad. The immediate result of meditation is discernment. In making decisions we have to not just think of what we would like to choose but also what the others in our life will like. As a CEO or Head of department, we need to weigh if our decisions are for the overall good or is it that I am imposing our egoistic ideas however right they may be on others. If it is not for the overall good then I should swallow that bitter pill.
This can be critical in the context of HR. We must work as a family and if my decision is going to hurt the family then I don't make that decision. Period. As CEO of a company, I have often observed that there are many types of employees. There are part-timers and full-timers and then there are people who are indispensable. Without them, the company can really suffer. If they come up and say that they want to work at home during vacation, would you fight with his proposal? No, you won’t. Because their contribution is whole-hearted and in the interest of the company.
If the company is not profitable how can the employees get their salaries? So actually you are paying yourself with your hard work. At any given time, the good, happy, enthused employees can easily be identified at a glance. You can also recognise a troublemaker. You can do all this by cultivating a meditative mind. The meditative mind perceives things beyond words”.
Then Daaji explained the importance of the heart in meditation. In the King James Bible, Vedas, Upanishads and other books the heart is mentioned a stupendous number of times. Whereas the brain is not mentioned even once in the King James Bible. In the human foetus, the heart is formed before the brain. Even Lord Krishna says in the Gita that he is present in the heart of each seeker. After speaking further on Heartfulness meditation Daaji then led them into relaxation and a practical session of Heartfulness meditation.
Many guests were also present. They were all from HTC. Four of them from the US and six of them from the company’s India operations were present.
