Kanha Shantivanam 5th November 2023

Daaji was resting for the most part of the day. Late in the evening Mrs Shweta Shalini, Advisor to Shri Devendra Fadanvis, the deputy Chief Minister of the state of Maharashtra in India, met Daaji. After a very quiet and short meeting, they had dinner together.

Dr Kishore who is the chief medical officer of Kanha Medical Centre gave a brief update on Daaji's health after the wedding. He said that whilst Daaji was recovering and the situation was not that alarming, even though Daaji was in a lot of discomfort, it was still necessary that we do not disturb him at his residence. If needed Daaji would call the person whom he needed to see. This was in resonance with what Daaji himself had announced the previous Sunday after meditation in a speech where he requested abhyasis not to come to his home.

Daaji’s health did not permit him to conduct the Sunday morning meditation, hence he asked Doc. Kishore Subbu to conduct it.  After the meditation, three weddings were solemnized by him on Daaji’s behalf.

1. Vatsala from Delhi and Vikram from Jabalpur
2. Pratibha from Jaipur and Tushar from Lucknow
3. Madhuri from Kanha and Kamalahasan from Chegur

The couples were from various places in India, each a pretty bride and her smiling groom. They came up to the stage after the meditation to undergo the simple yet meaningful ceremony of a Heartfulness wedding.

If needed Daaji would call the person whom he needed to see. This was in resonance with what Daaji himself had announced the previous Sunday after meditation in a speech where he requested abhyasis not to come to his home. Dr Kishore said that Daaji had been unwell three times in a row in the past few months. The first time he suffered from a high fever and had to rest for several days being able to recover just in time for the Bhandara in September.

Just when he emerged from the previous illness, it was that someone who was suffering from conjunctivitis carelessly approached Daaji to take a photo with him or with some such request. The close proximity resulted in Daaji catching that infection and for several days he suffered from swollen, infected eyes. He stayed in isolation at his home for another week or so. This had hardly finished when he now contracted a throat infection. Dr Kishore gently suggested that for Daaji to be in good health, he needs time to recover, rest, and not be constantly solicited by people seeking personal attention, especially for their personal problems. Let us be available for him if he calls us, and otherwise mind our own work in quiet sincerity, thus allowing him the space and time that are so critical for him, given the heavy responsibility he shoulders.

In spite of his ill health, Daaji attended the American Telegu Association Zoom call at 8.30 p.m. He answered a few questions and then conducted the meditation session.

After the Zoom call, Daaji spoke about the Ekatm Abhiyan program with Mrs Shweta Shalini which was conducted in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India wherein hundreds of thousands of people had taken initiatory meditation sessions of heartfulness. A similar campaign is currently underway in the southern Indian state of  Tamil Nadu, the Western state of Gujarat, and the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. Daaji suggested to Mrs. Shweta Shalini that the state of Maharashtra should be encouraged to conduct such large-scale Heartfulness meditation programs as well.

By then it was evident that the day had taken its toll and Daaji was feeling exhausted. He retired to bed thereafter.
