Kanha Shantivanam 3rd August 2022

Gopichand and his wife joined the group in the plantation activity. The couple was there to inspect the ongoing work of the badminton academy at Kanha. Later, they joined Daaji at his residence for dinner.

Spirituality and Wisdom

In his reply to an email, Daaji wrote, "Spirituality is concerned with the spiritual seeker as a knower becoming one with the known, and that knowledge arises as discriminating wisdom from within. It is the wisdom of such a high order that while we are seeing the beauty of the lover and the beloved, the knower and the known, the subjective world and the objective world, the trinity dissolves. This is the moment when the inner vibrations of a being change forever.”

This morning, Daaji had breakfast at home with Mr. Bhavani Shankar, senior principal of Lalaji Memorial Omega International School (LMOIS), Chennai, and his wife. They sat and spoke for a while in his office, thereafter.

Slowly, the room was filled with seekers. Daaji conducted meditation between 9.35 a.m. and 10 a.m. He then took leave of the group and went to rest for a while.

There was an e-mail with a question on wisdom, to which Daaji gave a soul-stirring reply.

How to gain wisdom?

“Gone are those days when fathers used to transfer knowledge to children. These days, children are more informed than parents. Children have an enormous level of information in any field, while adults remain stuck with the education they had. The educational world has seen an extraordinary level of transformation, and it is often very difficult to remain in sync with newer developments. Immediately after graduation, the mind of the fresh graduate is unaware of so many new discoveries, and that is why in developed countries there is such a demand for progressive continued education in all kinds of professions. But does this make us wiser? We may know about so many things, but if we have not fathomed ourselves, we remain strangers! Then what?

“Spirituality is not concerned with this sort of wisdom. It is concerned with the spiritual seeker as a knower becoming one with the known, and that knowledge arises as discriminating wisdom from within. It is the wisdom of such a high order that while we are seeing the beauty of the lover and the beloved, the knower and the known, the subjective world and the objective world, the trinity dissolves. This is the moment when the inner vibrations of a being change forever.”

At 4.30 in the evening, he engaged himself in planting trees and shrubs along with all the volunteers near the Madhuvanam pond. At around 6 p.m., Gopichand and his wife joined the group in the plantation activity. The couple was there to inspect the ongoing work of the badminton academy at Kanha. Later, they joined Daaji at his residence for dinner.

After dinner, Daaji conducted meditation, following which there was a short discussion regarding the badminton academy. With that, the activities of the day officially came to an end.
