Kanha Shantivanam 22nd May 2023

Daaji's day began with some yoga in the morning. Daaji explored different gardening techniques and was really taken with one from Thailand. He instructed the in-house staff to design a garden in the Thai style. Daaji was busy with meetings later in the day. Daaji then participated in an online interview with the Khaleej Times. The interview will be published by the Khaleej Times in their upcoming June 2, 2023 edition, along with information on Kanha Shanti Vanam.

Heartfulness is all about going by the feelings of your heart. The decisions that we make have to be followed by the heart's permission, and sanction. Often, we overrule the heart, and we go with the whimsical mind that we have or the emotions that drive us. So, in one way, you can define Heartfulness as following your life every moment with (using) the signals of the heart. And in order for us to follow the heart in a very pure way, the heart has to also be pure and simple. So, the Heartfulness Way of practice asks us to meditate on the presence of divinity that is already there in the heart so that we remain purer and simpler. And the decisions that we make will also be influenced by this purity and simplicity. So, we meditate on the heart and that's about it.
Daaji’s day began with some morning yoga. At around 9 am, he was researching on different gardening techniques and was very impressed with one of the techniques from Thailand. He asked the in-house team to create a garden using the Thailand technique in the walking zone in Gokul Point’s forest area. The garden was created using a variety of leaf plants such as Philodendron, Anthurium, Colocasia, ferns and many other varieties that provide a lush green display. Inside the garden, there will be a small water pond and some trees. Daaji liked one of the trees used in the Thailand gardening technique – Alstonia pneumatophora (Marsh Pulai, a rare tree found mainly in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand) – which was growing inside the water body and asked the team to procure it if we do not already have it. Later in the day Daaji was busy with the meetings with the HeartyCulture team and then with the architects of Kanha.
Daaji then joined an online interview with the Khaleej Times (a leading English newspaper across UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait) via Zoom. Daaji was introduced to the Khaleej Times anchor, Somya Mehta, by a few Heartfulness practitioners, and who reached the KT’s office to watch Daaji’s interview. The interview will be published by Khaleej Times in their upcoming 02 June 2023 edition along with information on Kanha Shanti Vanam. The interview lasted for more than an hour and was vibrant, energetic, and full of humorous conversation between Daaji and the KT team. It mainly revolved around Heartfulness meditation, Daaji’s journey into meditation, science & spirituality, how meditation will be beneficial to society, the book Wisdom Bridge and other such topics. The interview was filled with many pearls of wisdom from beloved Daaji. A few quotes from the interview are as follows: “Heartfulness is all about going by the feelings of your heart. So, we meditate on the heart and that's about it.” “… God is not an entity that can be seen or felt with our five senses. He has to be experienced with the heart. You know all religions, be it Islam, be it Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, we all believe in one thing that God is love. And love can't be seen, it can only be experienced. So, we close our eyes, all senses withdrawn into the heart and say okay let me experience the presence. So that's Heartfulness.” “The very first thing that develops because of meditation is the ability to discriminate. Discriminate between what is right, and what is wrong. What is beneficial for me, what is beneficial for others. Which business to run, which one to avoid. Whom to marry, for example, and I think how to raise my children. You are able to see clearly with the eyes of your heart and it is not that you're blocking everything from outside, nothing is to be blocked, but your heart becomes louder and clearer.” “You can have everything healthy, but if your spiritual health is suffering, nothing in the world can make you happy. You can have all the things in the world, physical, mental, emotional, great, spouse, etc. but without spiritual wellbeing, no one can be successful. That's one fundamental thing that really, really happens because of a spiritual life. So, when the heart gives you a signal, it's always correct. And that has always been my experience (Daaji’s experience).” One of the members of the Khaleej Times asked ‘What if your heart is not talking to you? Like how, what if you're not able to listen to that voice?’ Daaji said: “You know, the heart always speaks, always speaks. We don't listen because we don't want to listen. Because the thing is when the heart is telling us something, we say shut up I want to do this no matter what, right, and then you put a stone on the heart (deliberately suppressing your feelings) and then we regret later, oh I shouldn't have done that, I should have listened to my heart, the regrets come in. So, it is regrets that occur time after time, time after time, by not listening to the heart. One ends up having anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia even. So, meditation, in a way, is to vaccinate against your emotional health. It improves because you are not there to make wrong decisions. You are immune. Your immunity has developed not only physically because of a good lifestyle but because of meditation you are very clear about things in life.” The discussion continued to topics of matrimony, conception, destiny, inviting the right souls into the conception process, Brighter Minds and more. In the end when Daaji was asked on what’s his advice to the people living in the UAE, Daaji said, “It's very simple to me from my life's experience that we often give importance to one side of our life. We get so much bogged down with security in the material world, my house, my car, my you know, it's nothing wrong with that, absolutely fine, but I should not get carried away so much that I forget my spiritual existence; and I should not get into spirituality so much also that my material responsibilities suffer. So, my request, my pleading is only that we all should understand to balance material and spiritual life. It's a way of life. It's adventurous. It's joyful. And it's blissful. Try it.” After the interview Daaji was introduced to Ms. Harjyot Oberoi, Head of Marketing, at Khaleej Times (KT). She then thanked Daaji for a wonderful interview. Daaji asked all of them at KT to start the meditation practice and then invited them to visit Kanha, before taking leave from them.
Later Daaji went for lunch and then rested till evening. In the evening Daaji took his grandchildren to the Madhur area mango farm and then showed them some peacocks, who were showing off their feathers amidst the backdrop of trees swaying happily in the evening breeze, awaiting the monsoon season. The children were enthralled by the lush land and the peafowl’s cries, signifying the anticipation of flora and fauna for the first drops of rain, which, as we know, is the season for the peafowl’s monsoon dance. From there they drove to the Kanha Sarovar for a walk. Daaji walked up to the top of the mountain and spent some time there. While returning there were a few volunteers from Madurai and Manamadurai waiting at the gate to meet Daaji. These volunteers worked in the Karela (Bitter Gourd) farm. Daaji stopped the car, spoke to them, enquired about each of them and then drove home.
At night Daaji invited one of the architects from the meeting this morning, for dinner, and later showed him a few videos on different types of constructions, for his reference.
